  10. Ajax says:

You always dare to be different. At the times when the other directors are tightlipped about their projects, ban guests and camera phones on their sets, you dare to share the pictures from one of your ambitious project \’RANN\’. Kudos to you!! All the best for the venture. BTW, all the above frames rock! Waiting for a nice comedy movie, which is long due from your side.

  11. madhu sudan says:

"Nishabd" was screwed out only because its inappropriate publicity or inappropriate hype created prior to its release —-do u agree with this ?

  12. lprakash says:

  17. Vinay says:

  23. srinivas says:

Dear Ramu, I have this doubt since so long. Why people gloat when they hear something bad happened to heroines such as her boy friend slapped her because she started dating or slept with another guy, blah blah…….? Cases in point:One guy in this blog suggested you that “you should **** that heroine because ………. ”. Amazed! It is very clear that she is in no way related to him. But why is this guy so much grudge(?) /sadistic(?) on her? Another example is one guy suggested that you should include a scene in raktha charitra, of making pawan kalyan bald by paritala ravi. Why this type of behavior? This type of behavior is very well shown in the film “Neninthe”, where some people rape the mumaith khan with sadistic type of behavior.

  29. VijayDirects says:

Hello Varma garu, As I saw the \’RANN\’ images you posted, I thought, what\’s special about Paresh Rawal playing villain and BigB playing a good powerful man? Unless the story is itself compelling/unique/special etc. BigB has played a powerful businessman in a number of films. Paresh Rawal has played a scheming politician in a number of films. (My favorite one is \’Woh Chokree\’). But let us say, the story is not very compelling, what would make it special? There are probably n number of things that can be done. But let us say I want to experiment with casting. Why not just swap the cast? I was actually NOT joking. Now everybody knows that you and I are not the first ones to think on these lines. Examples: Amitabh – Parwaana (early role) Amitabh – Don (the real don) Amitabh – Trishul (?) Amitabh – Aankhen (Vipul Shah) Akshay Kumar – Aflatoon Akshay Kumar – Ajnabee Shah Rukh – Baazigar Shah Rukh – Darr Shah Rukh – Anjaam Akshay Khanna – Humraaz Ajay Devgan – Company Ajay Devgan – Khakee Aishwarya – Khakee and so on… When Gabbar played russian roulette with Kaalia and co., I thought this is a actually a twisted guy and back then, twisted was novelty. When SRK topples Shilpa Shetty from the high-rise terrace, this was a actually a bad guy. When Ajay shoots Sayyed in the chest at point-blank range, that was a coldest-blooded murder I ever saw. Once I properly experience this trauma, I just wish that all these bad people, lot of bad luck and that gives me a good feeling. But in my heart-of-hearts, if I wish them good-luck, it does not give me a good feeling. I guess by then I\’ve already wished the movie bad luck..

  30. sLm says:

@ VijayDirects dear its not yas raj movie or karn johar movie where friends are just to for small conversation or dance back side hero but in ramujis movie each character has a story…watch any ramujis direction. Paresh Rawal and BigB are just like another two character..sorry dear if i m rude..

  31. Kesavan says:

Hi Ramu,The photos are good and the characters are looking real. Hoping that the film will turnout to be something that I will enjoy. Very keen on Raktha Charitra also, purely because you are so excited about it :)Kesavan

  32. vamsi says:

"RAKTA CHARITRA" how much blood it carries?

  33. Parixit says:

The second last pic must of an awesome scene………………….I can imagine that paresh rawal is saying something very offensive stuff in a very defensive and diplomatic manner and your are focusing on Sudeep\’s and the other guy\’s expressions by zooming in and out…………..superb shot man…..I can\’t wait to see it in a big screen………..

  34. Shalini says:

Hi Ramu, this question has nothing to do with \’RUNN\’ or current events. I think you seem to be in awe with western style of film making, culture and literature. I think your sensibility, personality and thought process suit the west better, In my opinion(And I said this keeping in mind your statement that your sensibility suits \’bollywood\’ better than it does \’Tollywood\’).You even went to the extent of saying \’They have better brains than we do\’ in an interview (pertaining to filmmaking). How come you did not persue a career in the west? Why are you (still) in India? Also, most or all of your films have heavy Indian backdrop. You even shoot most of your films in India. You don\’t make films keeping NRI market in mind. Why is that?I know you\’re copying Hollywood flicks and you\’ll come back with the same answer. But my question is…to begin with, why did you think of becoming an Indian filmmaker? Why didn\’t you start your career in the west itself?

  36. SERIOUSLY says:

rgv watching ur films since siva u say that u have fun making films but seriously I think you are having the MOST FUN BLOGGING MAN. i AM SURE THIS IS A GREAT RELAXATION after a hard day of work . No kidding. I guess u can cut some slack for the folks man.

  37. Unknown says:

Hey Ramu……I hv heard that u have leg and feet fetish. many critics say that u shoot a lot of such scenes. I too have seen many of ur movies such as aag (nisha kothari\’s feet and legs being explored by ajay in a song), james(mohit is the lucky chap this time), darling (fardeen gets to kiss isha and easha\’s feet).I just wanted to ask whether all these instances which i hv quoted above are mere coincidence or serious attempts in exxploring a yet unknown sensual phenomenon in india(feet fetish)?

  38. Jack says:

RGV, I am assuming your thoughts on God are same as they were 27 years ago"…take the example of a man who is wishing for a large amount of money…”99.99999% of people don\’t pray. They beg."…Everyone desires to reach a stage of absolute happiness …"You think happiness always depends on external factors. Like you can be happy if Rann & Agyat become hits, or you own a Bentley or a penthouse. Then it is always Relative Happiness. Absolute happiness, by definition, does not depend on any external cause. We can almost never be unconditionally happy or happy without a cause. So we always postpone happiness, until our desire is satisfied. Are we ever HAPPY RIGHT THIS MOMENT? For example what is your state of mind right this moment? Do we ever say "I will be angry tomorrow" or "I will be sad after Diwali"? So why do we keep on saying “I will be happy after this or that criteria is satisfied"? Logic would imply there is a cause only if we are miserable. Rest of the time we should always be happy. On second thought, drop always. We should be happy right this moment. Isn\’t it?This state can be induced by drugs like LSD. Only, again we have become dependent on something 😦 That\’s where spirituality come in. (Note, I am using Spirituality, not Religion) A drug-addict & a spiritual person are both in state of no-mind. The only difference is the addict has fallen below the mind; the spiritual has gone beyond the mind.As long as the mind is there, the happiness can never be absolute. Haven\’t you noticed when you are ecstatic like in orgasm or having a great laugh, there are no thoughts in your mind? At that very moment you were in Nirvana."…pleasure and misery cannot be absolutely defined…”Pleasure is not same as bliss Pleasure is relative. Bliss is absolute."…It is a world devoid of competition…"Other than sports, competition should not exist anywhere. People should work for the sake of the work only (If we start enjoying our work, then by your definition, it is no more work. It is fun! 🙂 ). Else they should change their work (like you dropped engineering). Did Howard Roark compete with anybody? But did he lack initiative? Do you really need competition to achieve excellence? "…We are but our thoughts encased in a body? …"Is that all? Our thoughts are constantly changing. You have yourself said you are not the same person you were a week ago. If you are only thoughts and ideas and feelings, which are constantly changing, then who is aware of this change? Something inside you must have remained unchanged. That \’something\’ is beyond the body, mind, intellect, memory, ego (which is but a function of all your collection of memory). That \’something\’, that Witness, is what I call the Soul."…If the soul is beyond perceiving then in a realistic sense it should be taken as ideas and feelings…"You can perceive your ideas and feelings privately and can change them. They, definitely, are not the soul!"…the example of a wood-cutter who is happy in his profession, we observe that if he suddenly runs into a lot of money, he will stop cutting wood"“he will stop cutting wood" contradicts the assumption that "wood-cutter who is happy""…But very often their lives are controlled by people …"If you are Absolutely Happy, you can NEVER be controlled. It is only when you are relatively happy that your pleasure can turn into misery by an unfavourable review by Khalid Mohammad. Danger: I guarantee, if you are in bliss, you will be persecuted even more. People are jealous of happy people and terrified of blissful people. Look at what happened to Socrates(poisoned), Jesus(crucified), and Ashtavakra (crippled)."…wanting to reach that state in itself is a desire…"Couldn\’t have put it better! Wanting something to happen is the surest way to prevent it from happening. That\’s exactly why Krishna has said "Focus on the action, not on the result". It is not a commandment, it is a very good strategy. Two reasons:1. The action, filmmaking is in your hands. The result, hit or flop is not. So why waste time and energy?2. The moment you focus on hit/flop, you loose focus from film-making. The moment my mind is on the trophy, I have lost focus from the short-pitch delivery."…the degree of power we wish to procure…"What is it that you really wish for? To be happy , isn\’t it? Experiencing a better quality of life, film-making, lovemaking, freedom to do whatever you want to do, money, fame or power are just means to that end. Look without, and being beautiful, intelligent, rich, famous, powerful, successful are only temporary, changing. Look within, and the joy is eternal. It is Bliss.
