Fearing fear

I would describe fear as a feeling which comes out of being threatened with either emotional or physical violence, and it gets magnified especially if it comes from an unknown or an un-understandable source.

If you truly understand the mechanics and the motivations of the force which is threatening you, you won’t be half as scared. For example if you are confronted with a snake you will be chilled to the bone but if you can recognize the species, know what it’s poison contains, how it can effect your system, how fast it can move etc kind of details, instead of being scared you will think of ways of escaping it or killing it.

Similarly if you are alone at home at night and you hear a moaning kind of sound from inside a room where no one is supposed to be there, the slow wary walk of yours towards the room to check the source of the sound is when you will be scared maximum. That is because your own imagination takes over your mind. But once you see the source no matter how dangerous or frightening it is, you will either scream for help or run or attack it depending on you as an individual. You will simply jump into a defense mode and your fear at this time will be much lesser that what it was during the walk.

Belief in God I believe primarily comes out of fear because we have an overwhelming need to feel safe and we will never truly trust our family or the society or the police or the Government to protect us. Hence we are compelled to believe in a force which we desperately want to protect us in every which way and that is where God comes in and in order to feel the power of God we have no choice but to invent and pit his power against a counter point and thus evil forces like demons and black magic are invented.

Black magic is supposed to be used to hurt or kill an enemy by either practicing it or hiring its practitioners. Whether it exists or not, nobody can tell for sure, but I am truly stunned by the sheer number of people who in spite of their education and social status, how much they believe in it.

I think it’s mainly because whenever they don’t understand the reasons behind some negative happenings or at least when their minds refuse to accept the obvious for whatever reasons they tend to believe in the aspect of black magic.

I know of parents of this actor who was seeing a girl who they highly disapproved of. Unable to break their relationship and refusing to see a possible negative side to their own son they started believing that the girl did some black magic on him, and it started growing to the extent of them fearing everything about her.

I was always fascinated with the feeling of fear, how it consciously and subconsciously affects people in so many ways.

If you are traveling in a car on a highway and you see a very dirty looking truck coming from the opposite direction with broken headlights, peeled of paint and hanging bumper, that will scare you more than a slick looking well maintained truck. Logically speaking both will do the same damage if they hit you. But it’s somewhere your subconscious insight into the driver of the dirty truck that if he doesn’t care so much about his own truck he might not care so much about himself or you too.

Also if you observed when we with the whole family leave the house and go on a holiday for a few days, when we return, open the lock and step inside a thought fleetingly might cross our minds what the house and the various objects in the house have been up to while you were away.

Can we be really sure that the various inanimate things in our house we so take for granted in the course of the day don’t really come alive in the night after we go to sleep?

In "Phoonk" I attempted to use the above aspects of human psychology to accentuate fear. I went to the extent of attempting to make people feel not safe even with idols of Gods around.

To make the viewer fear and question everything and everyone around and what he depends on and what he believes in is the primary objective of "Phoonk".

Coming to the contest of watching “Phoonk” alone in the theatre actually no one realizes what the experience can be like. To sit in a large empty dark theatre let alone a horror film even a normal film can be a scary experience especially if you are sitting in the middle of theatre you will develop a nagging feeling that someone or something is behind your back. Actually even at home if you are alone by yourself it is very scary to watch a horror film. I would say probably it would be scarier at home than watching it in a theatre for the simple reason that there will be more hiding places in a home than a theatre for something to hide and pounce on you.

When Azam Khan, the Producer of “Phoonk”, asked me what I think will be the reaction of people who watch “Phoonk, I said the following 5 type of people could be there.

(a). One is the kind of a person who will be scared even before he enters the theatre as he connects to the intent of the film and his mind takes over after that.
(b). Another one will be a guy who will keep challenging the film to scare him. This specimen is commonly seen in theatres showing horror films. He will be booing and tittering in the silences, spoiling it for others. At heart he will be more scared than anyone else, so he tries to release his tension by making noises.
(c). Yet another one would not see most of the film especially whenever it is scary as he simply will close his eyes and ears.
(d). Also there will be a guy who will just watch the film without any feeling and this will be because he has absolutely no imagination at all. (Read ‘dumb’).
(e). And finally yet another guy might not even come to see the film not necessarily because he is scared of “Phoonk” but it could be because he saw “Contract”.

While watchin bhooth a guy was disturbing everyone in the theatre by making comments and spoiling the fun for everyone. when urmila goes for getting some water, he started saying some  – water problems or some stupid gibberish that cam to his mind. i think even his family was there, so he projecting himself as a hero. but when the scene where we see aghost behind urmila in the mirror, he got silent. Then after 2 minutes – someone shouted across – "dar gaya sala". then everyone started laughing. he got owned that night… 🙂

yes, when i was a kid, and we came back from a vacation… i first used check my toys to see if they have been moving around or playing by themselves…

hi ramu….saw contract a couple of days back, maybe its too late to comment but anyways….good movie, every character was great except one……the hero….he was simply just not as exciting as chandu, satya, bhiku, munna…..and one more thing, aman\’s BIG eyebrows kept nagging me throughout the movie….

i agree with what you said \’ideas are not wrong implementation could go wrong\’….and i correct myself, shimit or anyone else could take up a project like gayab….and make a good/bad movie

  3. sagar says:

you are scared of your own films ..hahaha…once Alfred Hitchcock was asked for his funny repliesQ:"Mr.Hitchcock you got a great sense of humor….Why have you never made a comedy?"
Hitchcock :But every film I make is a comedy.I said this because you said you scare of your own films…. though actually every film you make is not a horror  🙂

Your\’s is the best that I heard. Although I\’m a theist and do not personally agree with whatever you said about GOD, I still loved the way you had put it. Frank and transparent just like your movies.

You have really dedicated fans. If your movie is good, they\’ll do everything in their way to promote it and request others to watch it too. All you have to do is make a movie for yourself which will also please these dedicated fans. They\’ll make sure the movie returns the money the producers spent, if not more. All the people who visit this blog, whether they say they like the movie or not, like me, they will watch every movie you make. Nothing means more to them than you making a good movie.

Arre o, Ramu bhai!Sorry for always wishing you well and complimenting your work! I will try to do better..make that worse…in the future! ha ha ha!  :)I am anxiously awaiting the chance to see PHOONK.  The trailer carries the promise of a good fright!  Wait, perhaps I should have said it carries the promise of a terrible fright, as the term good might lead you to believe I am complimenting your work, once again—and terrible can be open to interpretation!Oh, yes…There is another type of potentially frightened viewer of PHOONK!The one who suffers from the fear of possibly having thrown away the money spent on the ticket if he thinks the movie is bad.He will be so terrified of this possibility that he will not be able to concentrate on the film and will miss the most important parts of the film in consequence!   Thus, through his own actions, he will confirm his fears…that the movie is/was bad and the he wasted his money.  ha ha ha!This, I think, is the nature of all fear…it is absolutely self-imposed.And what of the viewer that is afraid that he might actually enjoy the movie?  The fear of being entertained seems to be a growing one among moviegoers, these days (judging from viewer\’s comments via various sources). ;o)Ahh…I was about to sign off with "All the best"…but, in keeping with my attempts to avoid frightening you with good wishes,  perhaps I should say something other…..How about….Open-to-interpretational regards,Chris

  14. Sunil says:

    Hi RGV,

I am eagerly waiting to watch your new movie \’Phoonk\’ for two reasons,

    1. I enjoy watching your movies. Even if i dont like the movie as whole (very few), I would atleast enjoy few scenes. You execute scenes and develop characters very well. Many of the characters in your movies would remain in audieance\’s mind forever.
    2. I am from Karnataka and Sudeep is debuting with this movie in Bollywood. He is a fine actor and with a director like you, he will deliver his best (or you would make him to).

When I was in PUC, one morning, I and my two friends were walking down the street in our town {In Coorg} to my college and saw Urmila\’s poster in very few cloths. The movie was in Telugu, which was a total alien language for us then, rarely they would screen Telugu movies there. We did not know who was Urmila, RGV or Chakravarthy. Only one show in the morning. We decided to watch the movie based on the poster. We bunked clases and watched this movie, the movie was Anagana okka rozu. We really enjoyed this movie even though we did not understand a sentence. We liked it very much, we requested the theater persons to get some more movies from this director and screen them. He did that as he was good to us. Thats how we started to watch your movies and we all became good fans of you.

You really do good, quality movies and please continue so.

    Thanks
    SUNBOPS

  15. Aliasgar says:

Hi RamuOn the face of it, I initially thought that PHOONK must be a rehashed version of VAASTU SHASTRA, because it looked like it. But I was intrigued when I heard it was all about black magic. I am fascinated by this subject and am looking forward to see the movie, may not be in a hall though. A bad pirated copy will do since the bad print and horrible sound quality will kill 80% of the horror. Knowing you, you will get deep into the subject and evoke fear in the minds of the staunchest non-believer in the subject. And the concept of the competition has me all the more enthralled. The blog, especially in the middle when you spoke about the inanimate objects in the house being upto some mischief, gave me a chilling feeling. So I don\’t know whether I, being a weak-hearted person, will be able to watch the movie in the hall. But I am sure this one will be India\’s answer to movies like EXORCIST. Anyways, my hearty wishes to you for the movie..aLi.P.S. I am not participating in the contest, for very very obvious reasons.P.P.S. I still love your movies except AAG, for even more very very obvious reasons.

  16. Sameer M says:

    Dear RGV,

WAKE UP and reflect back on last few films. Somehow the Class and Intellectual depth is missing…do not know if you are hit by Director\’s block…

Look back at Company, Satya, Shiva are masterpieces. You delivered these to your fans and audiences. We expect the same. So please……

  17. Unknown says:

I saw "The Godfather" after i saw "Sarkar".Godfather didnt use weird camera angles, stylish dialogues or jarring backround score ,zoom in or zoom outs to present the importance of a scene.I think instead of making the audience react naturally, you were directing or guiding them to react.

Or probably, you didnt make a movie good enough that you were scared ,we will not react naturally.YOU SPICED  IT UP.

  18. nave says:

I dont care about what you think but iam pretty clear that Contract was not directed by you.

  19. nave says:

do u intend to make any telugu movies in future?

  20. Vinay says:

Wonderful Ramu, these kinda posts (about Fear and how you used it in Phoonk) as well as the post on Rangeela… this is what we come here for. And those "reactions to reactions" and "reactions to critics\’ reviews" … those are added bonuses.

You yourself talked about one person making different kinda movies. I still dont get it that you can make movies like Satya, Company, Naach, Sarkar and Sarkar Raj, but on the other hand make Contract, Aag, etc. I know that mindsets at that time are different. Even then how come you never made a "formula" film. I posted earlier that movies like Lagaan, Chak De India, Aankhen (Akshay Kumar), etc have a fixed format. Meaning, you train for the first half and hit the deck in the second.

A hollywood screenplay writer says that a movie has a start, end and the middle. Maybe something like Lakshya was made with the end in mind and everything else was "devised" later. You ever made a movie like that?

  21. Unknown says:

    Hi verma babai,

I am a fan of you right from the day i saw your first movie, i have to admitt you imagination is getting addictive to me and many others who follow your product. Anyways, i am eagerly waiting for your next product "PHOONKH".
You must be wandering whts this product all about, i will explain:

One must accept that RGV is a brand, im sure your are making use of this brand and trying to sell anything and everything. (plss bollywood has many lunatics like sharukh, karan, yashraj films who are already in dis). why da heck you join dem, you are a creator pls create something new every time.

We aint expecting any product with monograph saying dese r the contents, we just want something unusual from you..something distinct, something different. These are the feelingw e cherish watching englsih and other foregin language movie.

    Pls mind my comments..

  22. Narendra says:

Maybe i\’m wrong or maybe not. You have never made a bad movie but only bad choices.

Kshanak Kshanam was a movie far ahead of it\’s time. Same is the case with Nishabd. I still remeber reading an article in a newspaper which said that Kshanak Kshanam was declared a flop when it was released initially but after few years from then when it was released in Devi 70MM it ran for 100 days with heavy crowds thronging the theater.

Satya and Company would have never been appreciated if they are made in telugu (a seperate backdrop with basic theme remaining the same since mafia is out of question here at that time). Same is the case with AAG and Shiva 2006. Had they been made in telugu they would have been good commercial hits. Although the dubbed versions ware released, local cast missing made all the difference. In India nothing matches religion, caste and local feeling. Some movies are to be made only in some places. Only a few have this universal appeal like Kshanak Kshanam.

Note : They are only my personal opinions. I still feel bad inside that your financiers are loosing profits at a time when even silly movies like Jannat are being declared not only hit but super hit.

  23. Ravi says:

    Hi Ramu,

Just watched \’Contract\’. I wouldn\’t say \’brilliant\’ but very good! I thoroughly enjoyed it (except for few unnecessary camera shake-ups and close-ups)…it was perfectly shot. Initially, I thought, I am probably late or wrong on commenting on contract in this section of blog…but then realized that there is never a wrong time or wrong place for appreciation. Kudos mate. Good job…well done!

Though you didn\’t respond to my prev posts, I felt that you were little inspired by Dicaprio\’s character from \’The Departed\’. Did you ?

This comment is not directly related to you, but it\’s such an epochal event that I have to tell you.
Last Saturday night the most important TV channel showed in prime time a dubbed version of \’Cheeni Kum\’. Nothing special, if my country wasn\’t Italy and if you don\’t consider the fact that IT\’S THE FIRST TIME IN THE HISTORY, SINCE ADAM & EVE ON, THAT ITALIAN AUDIENCE CAN WATCH ON TV A HINDI POPULAR FILM:
    – NOT CLOSE TO VAMPIRES TIMETABLE BUT AT PRIME TIME
    – NOT IN HINDI WITH BAD SUBTITLES BUT DUBBED IN ITALIAN.
More: in August all Italy is \’closed for summer holidays\’. No one stays at home watching TV.
BUT THE SHARE FOR \’CHEENI KUM\’ WAS THE FIRST, I REPEAT, THE FIRST OF THE EVENING: 2.400.000 ITALIAN PEOPLE WATCHED THIS FILM, AND ONLY 1.300.000 WATCHED \’C\’ERA UNA VOLTA IN AMERICA\’ (sorry, I do not know the English title) DIRECTED BY OUR DEAR SERGIO LEONE STARRING ROBERT DE NIRO AND SHOWED AT THE SAME TIME ON ANOTHER IMPORTANT CHANNEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I\’m so happy you cannot imagine! I\’m not alone in the universe! Other aliens share my love for Hindi cinema!
    Next Saturday: \’Hum Tum\’.
So, please, tell all the distributors you know that an Italian audience for Hindi popular cinema EXISTS. Please, start distributing your movies also here, in the theatres, on TV, in the dvd stores!
(My country has reached the civilization, at last!)

  25. sagar says:

At what age did you decide to become a director?????

  26. Narendra says:

Hi celeste. Nice to hear that Hindi movies are availale in Italy. No luck in India though. Foreign Language films are out of question. Pity that we find them rarely even in metros like Delhi or Mumbai. Film festivals too are organised as if they are some private parties.

Well, I don\’t think that Italians will like Hindi movies. This is just the begining, so the craze might drive you all to your living rooms initially. But as time passes you will be very much disappointed when you find out that you are only watching films which you have seen in french or english etc., made into bad films which are in turn again dubbed into italian.

Next is \’Hum Tum\’ wright ? Well, I still remember reading a review for Hum Tum where the reviewer was kind enough to name the french original of it which I couldn\’t remember wright now. Not only Hind but almost 70 % of Indian Cinema is nothing but sweet coated plagiarism. Hope that you might not find it out pretty soon.

  39. Anand says:

Fortunately or unfortunately, you have the reputation of breaking new grounds. Critics used to call you maverick. You may or may not agree with this. Even when some of your films failed commercially, it worked for your fans and critics, when they managed to tread in newer grounds(like Nishabd, Naach, Kaun). You yourself have raised the bar, and thats the burden that you carry. So this excuse of making films only to enjoy the process sounds irresponsible.

  40. Bharat says:

What is it about fear that scares us so much ? Note that I use \’fear\’ and \’scare\’ as two different words. Is it fear of being harmed ? Or the way we are going to be harmed ? Is it fear of death ? Or the way we are going to die ?Let us take \’Predator\’. Arnold was still afraid of the Predator. Is it because he feared death ? Probably not. He is a soldier. So he must have been afraid of the source of death.  But that can happen even during jungle / guerilla warfare. He is obviously prepared to die and has been conditioned to survive somehow.  Unless torture techniques are deliberately employed, death cannot last more than a few minutes irrespective of source of death. Even so, he is afraid.Eventually during the course of the movie, he goes back to what he was trained for. To seek weakness and exploit.Would he have had that emotional capability if he had a family ? How much does fear affect you when loved ones are at stake ?If you take someone who (irrespective of his education) is simply not afraid of death (say someone like Arnold\’s character from predator) and put him in this scenario – Phoonk for e.g. – but with a family to support, how would the story unfold ? I think it would be interesting to see.

RGV is such a fake! People normally make bad movies with doomed scripts which are termed as B-grade movies. Only ramgopal varma makes movies to make them look like b-grade. i dont know what kind of satisfaction he gets from them. in recent times, this trend has become even intense. now he is churning b-grade movies one after the other. aag, contract and now phoonk!

  43. Sridhar says:

I know, know for sure that there is nothing like a \’model\’ of God, but believe a thing has created us, but not controlling us. It can manage and make sure that we are born and rest is left to us. It can manage to bring equal no of females and males into this world to make sure that the life cycle doesnt go wrong. It can make sure that a baby can exist inside a human without oxygen(which is unnatural). Whatever it can do is before a \’humans\’ birth and the rest is left to the humans and in turn it knows that only humans have the power to think, emote and understand unlike animals who cannot even pray or even get closer to the one who has made it!! Im not asking anyone to pray…dont get me wrong, its just the humans option to get closer or know it. The creator of universe(COU – That way I would like it to be called ) has made sure that it would create a eco-system first on earth and hence dinasours lived for millions and millions of years before man came into existence, and man has not even lived a meagre lakh years till now in comparison. So, who knows whats lies next….hahahaha…..
If one is a atheist of theist or whatever….you should have a proof…..a strong proof…..Im sure none can prove that!! But, the proof is of the existence(of humans) and this has been done by COU….He cannot be partial towards humans….He has made us intelligent by default….you cannot expect COU to control humans, thier every day life….control every human every day…thats more complex than the creation itself…even if COU had a plan, he would be doing injustice to animals or the other creations he has made….he CANNOT CONTROL…its not his duty to CONTROL us….It/He/She is only the Creator, and he has given us a GREAT gift of controlling ourselves…which we are not doing and hence are in this state now!! And, we keep praying him to CONTROL us…but actually its we who should be doing it right…and unfortunately CONTROLLING should be done for a GROUP, which is impossible!!
An atheist cannot say that there is noone who has created him or there is none super to him….because invariably he is saying that he does not care where humanity started from or for that instance does not believe in birth or he does not believe in the Universe overall.
An theist cannot say that there exists a super power which can control us and hence we can pray and hope it takes care of good things….some good things do happen when we focus or pray…sometimes bad things also happen….whom would you blame then?? When good things happen it does happen as a coincidence…and not because someone is controlling us…..and its a conicidence as I said before….its creating equal no of femals and males so that humanity can survive….
What if for the next 100 years only males or born or only females are born….What would all of do?? Hahahaha..expected..do think in the other way….but, think for instance….So, the COU is making sure that the creation is fine….if he can Control everything \’after birth\’ then you would not be called a human or a animal….you would be \’supernatural\’….and since, its been ages since man came from an ape….dont be scared to see a \’super-human\’ next door tomorrrow….and do beleive in the Creator of Universe(the COU)…..You need to \’FEAR\’ of the fact that we are just humans now….forget about the ridiculous superstitions created by you!!!

I read your strokes about rangeela.liked it very much. And coming to your thought on fear i agree with your logical reasoing .

as ardent fan of your movies ,i am requesting you to make a light comedy movie instead of dark and brooding movies.

why dont you suprise us with your movies instead of falling the same pattern of movies

Hello Sri…who created the COU….not some other CCOU…then you will have to create another CCCOU…there is no light at the end of the tunnel….

I think my interest in your underworld based films weaned out…but when it comes to fear stories, i am looking forward to them, because..like i said before…i like the way you depict fear.

Did you read/study Psychology, even as a hobby?

  49. Sridhar says:

    Hey EV

Your ability to question itself is a part of the creation, that infact is your answer…if there was not light at the end of the tunnel, then forget about your thoughts…you might not have existed to ask it…..

My point has been understood for whom it needs to be understood….reluctant* human views are just like a**holes every one has one!!!

  50. E says:

    Hi Sri..

You still didn\’t answer my question…Who created this COU?…if that is your premise that this universe has been created by some creator ..it cannot happen that..that C has come out from some thin air..someone will have to create the C…..it is plain simple logic..right ..if A is created by B..then B has to be created by someone…if B was created by C..then C has to be created by D..i can write all the alphabets here…the problem is there are only 26..then what??
I am not as informed as you are..you sound more like a COU and seem to have access to some deep esoteric knowledge about this creation……..I humbly ask you out of sheer ignorance who created this COU….OK if you cannot answer this question..answer one simple question…Who are you? And please dont give some readymade answers available in the market…..

    Cheers

    Hi Ramu
why were u so patient when yendamoori was interviewing you, i mean u were not in ur real state of giving witty replies to his questions.

  52. karthik says:

@noname – thanks for aamir khan interview link.

    Hi Ramu,

here\’s a small excerpt from the interview –

Aamir on why Ramu made some statements:
I think he was feeling insecure because I was getting a lot of credit for the film\’s success. Strangely, at a party to celebrate the film\’s release he had thanked me profusely for my help in the making of the film. With tears in his eyes he had said things like \’I don\’t know if I\’ll be able to work again with an actor of your commitment level… I\’ll always remember the relationship. As a director I have learnt so much about film-making from you…I think you should get the Filmfare award this year…\’
I was quite embarrassed with his emotional outburst and I mumbled something about just having done my job. When I told him I don\’t attend the Filmfare function he said he\’d collect the award on my behalf!!
Why he changed his opinion about me four months down the line he would know best.
    ___________________________________________________________________________________________
Its very hard to imagine Ramu getting emotional. He projects such a tough-guy who doesn\’t give a damn impression on us all the time.
The problem with Ramu is that though brilliant, he is not consistent. Not consistent with talent, productivity, emotions, views, feelings, statements, beliefs… everything. Today he said that aamir khan is the greatest, tommorow may be while having drinks with friends he will say that something wrong about Aamir. There is no doubt about it. Thats why his apology doesn\’t have any value…because aamir knows that as well.
I think I am wrong about you Ramu, you dont have guts, you cant stand on your word or what you say. You dont have the consistency or stability for that. As a filmmaker you are at times brilliant, but as an individual you are vapour. Vapour doesn\’t have form, it blows with the wind. It can take a stand on its own.
Ramu, i know this is your personal issue, but i cannot read articles written by people whom I dont respect. Lets say that i have removed your blog address from the My favourites list. There is no point in reading the feelings and thoughts of a man which are all fake!

  53. karthik says:

vapour cant take stand on its own. damn the spelling mistakes!

The brand of RGV movies are made in horror genre or a thriller / ficitional / underworld genre. What next? Dont you think you are repeating yourself. I read it in your blog that as far as ideas are there, doesn\’t matter the genre but to be very frank, it all started getting highly predictable now. So what\’s next ? Would there be a shift from the exisiting to a refreshingly new genre? Something which is not yet conceived from anyone… I am sure hundreds and thousands of young talents throng at your office, can\’t you just try something new?

  55. Sridhar says:

    Hey EV

I am not here to answer any questions and neither you have to get so animated….

You have ended up asking questions regarding creator of the creator….which was not what I wanted to convey….my point is different altogether and straightforward….I cannot answer your question…I am more ignorant than you…and you seem to have a valid question…agreed….excellent!!

If you read my post again…you will understand what I intended…dont make it a brawl…

    Thanks…

  56. E says:

    Hey dude..Sri..

Brawl..what brawl.?….take it easy bro..this space belongs to RGV…..i am not here to question u r motive..or whateva intentions that u have…or whateva..u intend to convey to u r target audience…but the thing is…before we express..ourselves..in your quest to make a point u have made some sweeping statements..which intrigued me….alrite…peace bro….God Bless ya!!! Sorry RGV..for interior decorating your private space….

  61. kishan says:

I am just curious. You are an athiest, is it because
    a) You strongly feel there must be a rational and scientific explantion for everything , or
    b) You like to think that way because if everything is pre-destined, that would make you powerless and just a puppet in god\’s hands? (that feeling is scary)

  62. Unknown says:

Hey,Why did U decide to tell us now about what transpired between Aamir and you now? In any case Ur not making a film with him? Also i feel Karan johar (if he has) has unnnecessarily taken offense to your statement. It had to be laughed off.

  63. Parag says:

U have stopped making gud movies lately and i expect phoonk to be in the same league ..
UR *sholay* was a total flop and a headache .. why dont you take a break and take some time off ….

and its pathetic the way you are promoting your film by"categorizing" people … there are a set( a big set) who go to cinemas to look for some entertainment … and you unroot their faith in indian cinema.

  64. Deepa says:

    RGV,

Stop this unednding sadomasochism over Aag. Thank yourself for making it for it contrasts against some of your other works so as to make the good even better.

  70. Unknown says:

You are a hell of a human being and a genius of a different genre. But I love horror more than you hate Karan\’s movies. I have been waiting to be scared by a movie for a loong time now. Really looooong. I love the feeling of being scared even for a min.  Now that  i have missed the opportunity to challenge your movie. I will watch it after a loong time after its release. Lights, camera and music do not really scare everyone.  The  theme of your movies these days is more hackneyed. I know you make movies for yourself but a Rangeela, Prema kada, Kshana Kshanam, (not shiva) ., any thing that is far from the being criminal will definitely be refreshing to us. And we can defend you against those who say that you can make only a very limited genre of movies.

  71. Unknown says:

    Hi RGV,

I have been an rdent fan and voiciferous defender of your movies. All I says is keep them moving. All the good ones and the not so good ones for all of them have some difference in them and that I enjoy watching. I like the way you try and explore with each movie you make. Eagerly awaiting Phoonk now.
